Argentina - Asociación de Ayuda al Paciente con Inmunodeficiencia Primaria

As our first year celebrating Immunology day in Argentina, AAPIDP planned and participated in  different actvities to promote awareness of PIDs in our country.

AAPIDP took part in a Patient Associations Exhibition, (EXPO PACIENTES 2007) held at a well known University Center in Argentina together with other patient associations of rare diseases and groups advocating for quality medical care. Some members of the press were also present at the exhibition , providing us a a magnifient chance to explain our concerns and present our material.

Radio Interview: Mrs Roberta Pena (president of AAPIDP) and Dr. Matias Oleastro (Medical Advisor of AAPIDP)were invited to participate in a national radio interview, where the association was officially presented and Dr. Oleastro was able to provide a brief explanation on PID's.

Finally, with the generous sponsorship of Grifols, as well as the help of a Graphic Design and Media company, we were able to develop posters promoting awareness of PID. These huge posters were placed on billboards in speficic railway stations in Buenos Aires.

Brazil - Brazilian Society for Immunology

BSI has a program that is being carried out by a Publication relation Firm which promotes the "Global Day of Immunology". BSI arranged a host of talks aimed at the lay public in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, and Belem. The State Assembly of São Paulo will declare the "Global Day of Immunology"– the State Day of Immunology – as it did last year. BSI initiated an ongoing article series in the "Jornal da Tarde" (a printed newspaper in Sao Paulo with a daily output of 500,000 copies and "Jornal do Brasil", a Rio-based National newspaper with a daily out put of 2,500,000 copies). There are also schedule interviews in local and National TV and Radio outlets.
